Biography
Jean-Antoine Watteau (UK: , US: , French: [ʒɑ̃ ɑ̃twan vato];Picard: [ʒɑ̃ ton wato]; baptised 10 October 1684 – died 18 July 1721) was a French painter and draughtsman whose brief career spurred the revival of interest in colour and movement, as seen in the tradition of Correggio and Rubens. He revitalized the waning Baroque style, shifting it to the less severe, more naturalistic, less formally classical, Rococo. Watteau is credited with inventing the genre of fêtes galantes, scenes of bucolic and idyllic charm, suffused with a theatrical air. Some of his best known subjects were drawn from the world of Italian comedy and ballet.

This biography relationship does not authorize an artwork outside the pre-1971 catalogue scope. Explicit secondary-source assertion; independent historical verification remains pending.
- Jan Piotr Norblineditorial inference
Evidence

The biography identifies Jean-Antoine Watteau as an artistic influence on Jean-Pierre Norblin de La Gourdaine. Caresme's studio and Van Loo's formal tuition are expressly training; working with Francesco Casanova is not separately promoted to teaching. Explicit secondary-source assertion; independent historical verification remains pending.
