About this artwork

Lion’s Head is a popular tourist destination known for its scenic limestone cliffs, which are the focal point of Kubinyi’s print. However, the dark lines and shadowy sky result in a landscape that seems more foreboding than scenic. Although Kubinyi was heavily involved in the Works Progress Administration (WPA)’s Federal Art Project, he did not submit this print of a Canadian landscape to the program, possibly because the WPA emphasized American scenes.
