Painted during a highly productive period between 1928 and 1932, this work of art belongs to a series of large still lifes notable for their rich, textured surfaces and vibrant colors. Here, a bottle of Marc (a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented fruits, herbs, and spices that originated in the Champagne region of France), a music sheet, and a glass fruit bowl containing two apples are arranged on a white tablecloth atop a rectangular table.
